March 21, 2007
Hello, world!
My name is Ms. Julia Emerson Geib, and I came
into this world screaming and kicking on March 14, 2007 in Ventura,
California.
My story so far is short but you can see text, photographs, and
videos of it at --
GESTATION AND BIRTH: EYES CLOSED

Click on above graphic to view
pictures, text, and video of my gestation and birth!
-- there exists more about me and my parents at that link than
you ever wanted to know! My parents are so
silly.
But they feed, clothe, and love
me, so I cannot complain too much. My life so far has been much
like that of a rock star: I have attendants who wait on me hand and
foot,
droves of groupies hungry for information about me, multiple
outfits in my daily wardrobe, etc. I stay up all night without
regard for the next day. It's all about "me" here at the
beginning in --
YEAR ONE: EYES WIDE OPEN

text, and video of my first year of life!
-- good times, eh?
Yes, life does present its challenges. For example, there is the
learning to move my limbs, the stomach gas and diaper issues,
and the many
new and bewildering
sights and sounds. Sometimes the world seems too much for
me and I cry in the frustration of it all. But I am up for almost
any challenge, and the world should expect great
things
from
me.
My partial
namesake,
Ralph
Waldo Emerson, once claimed the following: "A
child is a curly, dimpled lunatic." He obviously
never met me. I am no lunatic! You shall see. Everyone
will see.
With respect to the specifics, my mother is Maria Geib née
Rodic and my father is Richard James Geib. I live in Ventura, California
in a
neighborhood bordering a commercial lemon grove and the Santa Clara
River. Ethnically, I am 33% Irish, 25% Serbian, 25% Danish, and 16%
German: this makes me 100% American in the greatest "mongrel"
tradition! I will start kindergartner in the 2012, high school in
2021, and I will graduate from college around 2029. I will be 92
at the centennial celebrations in 2100. My mother teaches 4th grade,
and my father teaches American literature and American literature
while we live on American Way. Nice, eh?
What else? Looking at my parents, I
almost surely will wear glasses. I am currently not so
large in size, but once I stretch out my legs observers are astounded
at
how long I am. More details? I am very strong for my age and was
able to life my head up unaided only days after birth. I wear diapers,
and I have my own room decorated in green and white in a
Winnie the
Pooh
scheme.
I
was born with
a
full head
of hair, and my parents wanted me very much when I was conceived.
It was time for them. They had the careers; they had the house; they
had their marriage; and so they went about the happy business of
conceiving
me - and
nine months later I arrived on the scene. I was born at Community
Memorial
Hospital
in
Delivery
Room #5 in the maternity ward on the second floor. My mother labored
for seventeen hours before I emerged and breathed my first. It was
my father who cut my umbilical chord and launched me into the world
away from mother's sustaining nutriments. So I arrived.
But enough about me! How about you? Feel free to e-mail me
at julia@rjgeib.com and
introduce yourself. I love to receive e-mail!
