JULIA EMERSON GEIB
Our Firstborn Child...
“A woman has two smiles that an angel might envy, the smile that accepts a lover before words are uttered, and the smile that lights on the first born babe, and assures it of a mother's love.”

WE COULD NOT BE MORE THRILLED!
Maria and Richard Geib found themselves happily pregnant in early July of 2006.
Married for some two years already, Maria and Richard very much wanted a baby: once birth controls measures were discarded, it happened almost before they knew it! So embarked these soon-to-be-parents on the journey of pregnancy, and it has been quite a ride. They could hardly wait to meet their new daughter; the months moved too slowly. (See pregnancy schedule!)
In fact, it seems Julia's pregnancy was an anomaly: in an era in their lives when each passed more quickly than the previous as life moved ever more quickly, this pregnancy was not unlike returning to childhood when Christmas was a date came only too slowly. In similar fashion, Maria and Richard watched the calendar anxiously and expectantly and time moved slowly. First semester... second semester... childbirth class... tour of maternity ward at the local Community Memorial Hospital... preparing Julia's room... baby showers for Maria... preparing the bag for the trip to hospital and labor and Julia. Maria's due date (ie. Julia's projected birthday) was March 8, 2007, and it seemed as if it would never arrive.
Yet time did march inexorably on, and towards the end of February Maria and Richard began finished their childbirth class and put together their birth plan. Julia will already had two older cousins living in Irvine, California (Patrick and Sean), but Julia will be the first female Geib baby. Julia's parents looked forward expectantly to that moment somewhere in early March 2007 when she will make her appearance on the stage of life.
That moment arrived around 8:00 p.m. on March 13, 2007. Maria started having contractions and by 1:30 a.m. that next morning they were at the Community Memorial Hospital maternity ward ready to go. The contractions and associated pain were worse than Maria had expected, but an epidural cured that problem and by noon Maria was fully dilated and ready to push. Approximately an hour later -- at almost exactly 1:03 p.m. on March 17, 2007 - Julia Emerson Geib was born. Her mother strained to push her baby out, and her father watched her head appear with amazement.
Julia had arrived, healthy and vigorous. Her parents could not have been more happy!
